Fellowships

LFR International selects LFR Fellows from its annual applicant pool to establish and scale lay first responder programs across communities in low- and middle-income countries around the globe, innovate at the forefront of medical research, and gain experience working with an international nonprofit. Successful applicants are ambitious individuals who have an ability to work independently and a track record of leadership and cultural competency. We offer both pre-doctoral and post-doctoral fellowships with preference given to post-doctoral fellows from LMICs.

Our fellowship program is competitive and provides opportunities for fellows to become part of our mission in education, healthcare, and research. LFR Fellows are provided unparalleled international experiences to develop prehospital emergency care programs with our local partners and witness the profound impact the LFR model can affect locally.

As an EMT that studies Global Health, it has been a dream of mine to create impactful and positive change to boost EMS systems in a worldwide scale, and LFR has provided me invaluable guidance, support, and resources to inspire me to step outside my comfort zone and make it happen. Without LFR’s idea and focus of working as one entity, where all its members support each other, I would not have been able to have such a successful experience in Guatemala.
— Jose Figueroa, LFR Fellow in Prehospital Emergency Medicine
