Chad
Number of First Responders: 136
Background
A 2018 partnership with the Chadian Red Crescent to serve 38,000 people replicated the initial project started in 2016 in Uganda. This program was developed and implemented in Am Timan, the capital of the Salamat Region and ranked by a multidimensional poverty index (MPI) as the poorest region in the world by the World Bank and IMF. 136 lay first responders were trained, showing improvement across all major first aid categories of bleeding control, scene management, airway management, recovery position, and patient transport.

Ongoing Efforts: Working with local partners, we are adapting trailers into motorcycle ambulance rigs to assist lay first responders with patient transport. We are longitudinally tracking usage data to determine their cost-effectiveness for future healthcare expenditures.
